Community Theatre Group

January saw the successful launch of the Terry O’Toole Theatre’s new community theatre company in-residence, ACTion@TOTT.

Artistic Director, Roy Hazlehurst, welcomed around 50 local people to the theatre, explaining plans for a new performing arts centre to be built on the North Kesteven site and used by both the secondary school and the wider community. Keith Elms, who is well known locally for his commitment to the arts, has agreed to stand as Chair for the group and to kick-start a programme of activities by leading a series of workshop sessions in early March exploring stage skills, script and characterisation.

Looking ahead, by popular demand the company will present a studio theatre production in the autumn and a community pantomime in January 2011.

A further series of introductory workshops is planned to take place throughout the spring, covering an introduction to working in technical theatre, dance and singing skills, and scratch play readings.
