The Creative People and Places Consortium for Boston and South Holland, Lincolnshire is seeking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to manage the delivery of our new and exciting arts engagement programme – Transported.
Transported seeks to inspire and amaze and has been designed to develop new ways of engaging more people in great arts experiences in areas of least engagement. Transported will create excellent art that is appropriate for rural communities, is determined by rural residents and is innovative and cutting edge.

Togetherness The Solidarity Project
The Solidarity project is designed for Key Stage 4 students disengaged from physical education, using dance as a tool for motivating competitive sport. The project began when two former Partnership Development Managers (Rob King, City of Lincoln School Sport Partnership & Gareth Hart, Cherry Willingham School Sport Partnership) approached the dance development team at artsNK in 2009 to devise a project for secondary schools within the two partnerships.

Inside Out Our Story from Grace Clarke, Claudia Martin and Laura Wight
artsNK’s ZYGOTE festival, which will take place in Sleaford on October 20th, has given the opportunity to three young students from Kesteven and Sleaford High School to show off their talents. Grace Clarke, Claudia Martin and Laura Wight, all studying Btec Art and Design, devised some short, animated films using digital technology. As a result of this, the three students were each presented with a prize for their contribution to the Festival.

Contemporary Art Collaborations Transform Rural Churches
Two of Lincolnshire’s rural churches will be transformed by contemporary art installations, which will see internationally renowned artists make their mark upon the county.
Dutch documentary filmmaker, director and video artist, Pat Van Boeckel, and award-winning visual artist from London, Emily Tracy, have been commissioned to produce interactive new art work for St. Andrews Church, Heckington. Homegrown Rhubarb Theatre and Brickbeat Studios will also create a dramatic community production for St Peter’s Church in South Somercotes, Lincolnshire.

Inside Out My Story from Jacqui Borrows Young Dancer
artsNK has been well known for several years for its diverse and exciting Youth Dance Programme. Numerous young people from ages 4 to 19 have benefited from participation in groups ranging from contemporary dance to hip-hop. The full programme of youth dance classes includes contemporary creative and break dance classes, a dance leadership course (for ages 13+) and three, advanced dance performance companies!
One young dancer who has loved her involvement with the dance programme is Jacqui Borrows. Being a member of kNacKer’d Youth Dance Company inspired Jacqui to apply for the recently devised Dance Leadership Scheme, which is a Level 1 Award and is a nationally recognised qualification.

‘Tis the season for planting fruit bushes and the volunteers who look after ‘The Nettles’ in Sleaford were doing just that between 10am and 3pm on Monday 10 December. Gooseberries, redcurrant, raspberries and blackcurrant bushes were planted alongside rowan trees, hawthorn, a walnut tree and a crab apple tree.

Lincolnshire County Council is currently working on a new multi purpose building for the east coast, designed to act as an observatory and visitor centre for the proposed coastal country park, it will also contain a lookout for the Coastwatch organisation, a cafe and an art space funded by the Arts Council.

‘Transported’, Boston and South Holland’s Creative People and Places bid, has been successful in achieving an impressive £2.5million in funding from Arts Council England! artsNK, the lead applicant in the bid, is part of a core consortium consisting also of Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service and Lincolnshire Artists’ Forum, and one of only 7 consortium applications to have been successful in the first commissioned grants from Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme, which is designed to empower communities to take the lead in shaping local arts provision.

JAZZ VEHICLE competed against 7 other bands in the open section who were selected from the 80 music for Youth Regional Festivals earlier this year and were presented as winners of the “The Royal Albert Hall Award”

Spires & Steeples Challenge 2012 ~ Planning Well Underway
On Sunday 14 October 2012, the fifth annual Spires & Steeples Challenge will take place from Lincoln to Sleaford. The Challenge is a charity 13 or 26 mile walk or run starting at Lincoln Castle and finishing in Sleaford, all in aid of Wheel Appeal which provides sports wheelchairs, training and support.

Olympic Torch Relay at Bracebridge Heath Needs Your Help!
Bracebridge Heath residents will be sharing in the excitement and build-up to the London 2012 Olympic Games when the Olympic Flame travels through North Kesteven on Wednesday 27 June. To help with this the organisers need picture frames, ideally A4 and A3 size in which to frame old pictures and photographs illustrating the history of the area and Victorian style school desk and chairs.

Big Dance Schools Pledge ~ WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT ~ Fri 18th May
The Big Dance Schools Pledge is a major part of the Big Dance programme in the East Midlands as part of a National event and this year, will take place on Friday 18 May, the same day that the Olympic Torch arrives in the UK.
Amy Dalton and Holly Arnold from artsNK’s Dance Development Team have recently been working with local primary and secondary school dance teachers showing them a five-minute dance piece choreographed by Wayne McGregor CBE, Resident Choreographer at the Royal Ballet.

Olympic Torch Relay ~ Invitation to Creative Workshops on 16th & 23rd June
On the 27th June, the Olympic Torch will arrive in North Kesteven, travelling through Sleaford and onto Bracebridge Heath on its way to Lincoln. The Torch is due to come through the village at around 4.45pm. You are invited to take part in Torch inspired workshops at Bracebrdge Heath Pavilion, from 10.00 till 4.00 on the 16th and 23rd of June – to make stunning artworks to be installed as part of the villages celebration of the Olymic Torch visit.

Thousands of school children go for World Record Big Dance at 1pm on 18 May 2012 – the day the Olympic Torch arrives in the UK –thousands ofschool children in the UK and across the world will join together to take part in a worldrecord breaking dance, created especially for them by Wayne McGregor CBE with an original score by Scanner and Joel Cadbury.

Job Opportunity – LOV X-Change Project Workers Required
Recently LOV was granted funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation to enable them to embark on a ground-breaking project to increase and enhance their level of engagement with young people across the county. Lincolnshire One Venues is now looking for two creative Project Workers to join the team and develop a programme of activities which will deepen young people’s engagement as consumers, critics, aspiring artists and creative entrepreneurs.

Curiosities on The Edge
The aim of this project will be to use the new Structures on the Edge (SOTE) as inspiration for small sculptural artworks. These artworks will be durable so that they can be picked up and handled and their size will fit into an adult hand. They will be stored in three boxes that contain small drawers which can be explored to reveal what treasures it beholds. Each draw will hold one artwork. The boxes will be available for visitors and schools to use when coming to the coast to view the SOTE.

Graduate Internship ~ Dance
We are offering an internship to a graduate who is interested in gaining experience of working in the dance sector. The Intern will learn about a variety of different areas of the organisation working at artsNK’s office in Sleaford. They will assist the Dance Development team in the planning, administration and management of TRUE MOTION, Lincolnshire’s U.Dance Platform, which is a level 2 county event.

Chipping away over time shows the way
Creativity is alive and well in Wellingore.
Last year artsNK ran some taster workshops in Wellingore, as part of the parish Council’s refurbishment of their Mill Green. The residents took to carving like a wood pecker to wood, and have formed themselves into a group, and are currently working with artsNK associate artist Helen Link.

Over 300 Vitality members demonstrated that growing a little older does not mean becoming inactive and sedentary. The over sixties movement and music groups from around the county gathered at the Epic Centre, Lincoln, on Thursday 16th June to celebrate their achievements over the past two years.

MADD Summer- Shadowing Opportunities for Performing Arts Students
For the past 8 years artsNK and North Kesteven School have worked in partnership to run a successful Performing Arts Summer School for children aged 8 – 14. Music, dance and drama workshops take place throughout the week culminating in a performance for family and friends on the final day. We are offering 3 students, over the age of 18, (1 Music, 1 Dance and 1 Drama) the opportunity to shadow an established artist at this year’s Summer School. Each student will work alongside a more experienced practitioner to improve their workshop and teaching skills and gain real, hands on experience of delivering music, dance or drama sessions.
