Ridges & Furrows Arts & Heritage Trail celebrates its launch with guided walks as part of the North Kesteven Walking Festival

15th June 2018

The Ridges & Furrows Arts & Heritage Trail celebrates its launch this summer with a series of walks as part of North Kesteven Walking Festival. The trail extends from The National Centre for Craft & Design in Sleaford to Whisby Nature Park, travelling along the Lincoln Edge and visiting numerous villages and places of interest along the way.

Also launching as part of the project this July is a new heritage trail for Waddington village initiated by Waddington Parish Council and artsNK, and funded by Heritage Lottery and Arts Council Lottery. As part of the trail a series of six permanent artworks by international artist duo Simon Grennan and Christopher Sperandio are being installed in Waddington.  Grennan & Sperandio have been working in the village since April 2017, talking to local residents as well as delivering art activities with school children and local community groups. The series of six sculptures are inspired by stories and tales from Waddington’s history that have emerged from the community workshops. Entitled Emblems the sculptures are situated on buildings both in the upper and lower village.

All of the artworks are covered in the new Waddington Heritage Trail guide.  The guides will be available from July ready for a launch event and trail walk on Sunday 22 July.
