Dancer on Aerial hoop

New Aerial Classes at South Holland Centre

8th April 2016

Transported, in partnership with the artsNK aerial dance programme for Lincolnshire and the South Holland Centre, is bringing aerial dance classes to South Holland this month. The new classes follow the success of the artsNK Aerial Fitness Classes at oneNK in North Hykeham, and some well received aerial classes which were part of circus skills workshops in Boston in 2015.

Lauren Williams, aerial dance teacher at South Holland Centre, said: “It’s really exciting to see aerial classes coming to our local area, offering a new, first of its kind opportunity for this area to local people. It’s a fantastic way to keep fit and explore the capabilities of your body, often finding you can do more than you ever thought possible. I’m really looking forward to working with a new class and hope participants come ready to try something new!”

Aerial classes teach participants to “dance in the air”, using silks and hoops. A new and unusual way to keep fit, working with the silks (two long pieces of fabric) and the hoop to create poses off the ground improves core strength and flexibility, as well as general fitness levels – and it’s addictive!

The classes are suitable for age 12 plus to adult, and take place on Tuesdays (during term time) from 19 April to 12 July, 6.30pm to 8pm. There is a free taster session on 19 April (normal session cost is £6).

Places are limited and booking is essential, so to book a place please call the South Holland Centre box office on 01775 764777 or book online at www.southhollandcentre.co.uk (please note a £1.50 fee applies for online booking, and the free taster session on 19 April can only be booked by calling the box office).
