artsNK is a unique team of visual and performing arts specialists that initiates and supports arts projects across the North Kesteven district, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.
We design and deliver community arts programmes to meet the needs, demands and aspirations of the residents of North Kesteven District. We have diverse and comprehensive programmes in the performing and visual arts, as well as play an increasingly important role in the strategic development of the arts within North Kesteven.
Our Dance team deliver and develop dance opportunities throughout Lincolnshire, initiating high quality dance projects in schools, the community, leisure centres and at outdoor events such as local festivals. Our visual arts programme includes, education interventions in schools and university, arts and heritage trails, public realm projects, festivals and exhibitions and working with communities to develop projects, and provide people with tasters of particular techniques. We also have a strong track record of producing festivals, working within communities to develop festivals that are rooted within particular locations.
We believe that the arts contribute significantly to the artistic, cultural, social and economic life of communities, as well as contributing to the health and well-being of individuals. We work towards increasing community engagement in the arts at all levels, developing and increasing arts skills and developing understanding and appreciation in all sectors of the community of the value of engagement in the arts.
We work closely with a range of organisations, community groups and partners to support and develop projects across North Kesteven and Lincolnshire. Partnerships are at the core of what we do, allowing us to extend our offer and deliver ambitious programmes, working with organisations who share our values. We work with partners both within the arts and culture sector, and those connected to our aims relating to health and well-being, regeneration and education.
We also work with regional strategic organisations that contribute to developing practice and increasing understanding of the value of the arts such as East Midlands Participatory Arts Forum (EMPAF).
We receive funding from a number of sources. The two main sources are Arts Council England, East Midlands, and North Kesteven District Council. We are currently an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation with The National Centre for Craft and Design and Design Factory through North Kesteven District Council. North Kesteven District Council has a strong commitment to arts and culture and also heavily subsidises our programme to ensure accessibility across the district.
